Dean was ordained in the Anglican Diocese of Montreal in 1983, and served as pastor of three different parishes over the next twenty years. From 1998 to 2002 he was director of leadership training for Anglican Renewal Ministries. As an interim rector, he led the congregation of St. Stephen’s Church in Westmount, Quebec, during its crisis of decision concerning theological and ethical directions in the Anglican Church of Canada, and spent a year as pastor of the new congregation of Emmaus, founded in 2009 as part of the Anglican Network in Canada. Dean currently teaches occasional classes at McGill University, while working with the English Montreal School Board as a teacher of literacy for immigrant adults. He is married to Cathy, and with her has raised four children, and enjoys three grandchildren.
